Architecture
This year 4th grade learned about 2 styles of architecture; traditional Victorian homes and Prairie style homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Students studied images of both design styles and then had to choose a style in which they would design their own house. Students first sketched out their homes and then recreated them out of construction paper in a collage format. This assignment was very difficult but the results were awesome. I loved this lesson! I really felt like students walked away with an appreciation for the two styles and more aware of the world around them.
