Picasso and Value

8th grade started of their year studying Pablo Picasso and Cubism.   Students first examined the following painting by Picasso, Horta de Ebro, often considered the first cubist painting.  8th graders focused on Value, and how Picasso used light and dark shading to create his cubist work.  The first assignment 8th grade created was a traditional black and white value scale.  Afterwards they moved on to make their shaded shapes in color.
