Woven Paintings
This is my favorite new project that I have tried out this year. 6th grade had been studying weaving all year and this was their culminating project, and by far the hardest. Each student sketched an animal on their paper, they then used transfer paper to make duplicate of the image. Students then painted in both sketches. After their work was dry one painting was cut into warp strips while the other was cut into the weft strips. Students had to use a lot of patience to weave and glue the two together but the results are inspiring!
