This is another new lesson that I tried with 8th grade this year and the results were fantastic. 8th grade has been studying cubism. Part of Cubism's signature style involves playing with placement and mixing up parts of the face. For this assignment each student was given one face card which was then cut into pieces and re-glued to create a new composition. Students then scaled them out on large black paper and used oil pastel to color them in.
