Huichol Heads

8th grade has FINALLY completed their Huichol heads.  The Huichol indians of Mexico create intricate beaded artwork by applying wax to a figure and then pressing on beads one at a time.  Here a a beautiful example of their work.

As our final project on the Huichol indians, 8th grade used paint and pony beads to decorate styrofoam mannequin heads.  Although we didn't have wax to attach our beads, tacky glue worked just fine.
