Georgia O'Keeffe

5th grade just wrapped up a unit on one of my favorite artists, Georgia O'Keeffe.  Georgia is famous for her large flower paintings that often cover her complete canvas.  To recreate her style of painting, each student received a silk flower that they examined and sketched before painting in water color.

Our next project was Papier Mache flowers.  This was by far my most ambitious project of the year considering I don't have a sink.   Students used nothing but paper towels to sculpt their flowers on a pizza box. Although it was very messy the results were spectacular!
