Peace Quilt

Continuing on with our quilt unit....
Students discussed how a closed fist was a symbol of hostility and how an open hand was a symbol of peace.  Using this imagery, each student traced their hand on a piece of muslin.  Students then traced their design in glue.  After the glue was dry, students painted in their squares with fabric paint.  I then washed their the squares in the washing machine which melted off the glue.  The results is that you can see the beautiful white batik outlines in each quilt square.
