Jackson Pollack Collage

In order to learn about the life of Jackson Pollock students read the book "Action Jackson" by Jan Greenberg.  Students discussed his technique of simply pouring paint on the canvas.  Afterwards, each student had a chance to try thier hand at painting Pollock style.  Each class "painted" on a different color canvas.  I then cut up all the canvas into small pieces.  Students received templates for different shapes and traced them on the "Pollock Paper".  These shapes were cut out and assembled into a collage.  Great review of shapes and also good practice with cutting!

*note to art teachers, if you do this use Jazz Gloss Tempera, the paint has a perfectly smooth drip which helps cut down on mess!
